Obituary for Wayne Stevens

Tupelo - MARVIN WAYNE STEVENS, 74, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at Community Hospice after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born January 25, 1933 to Ruby Opal Davenport Stevens and the late Cecil Leo Stevens. He served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Pryor Construction as a carpenter. An Avid horseman, he was a member of the Quarter Horse Association. He was a Baptist.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Opal Stevens of Tupelo; one daughter, Kristie Kasimakis and husband, Rudy, of Tupelo; one sister, Shirley Dickerson and husband, James, of Baldwyn; two brothers, Kenneth Stevens and Jimmy Stevens and wife, Audrey, all of Tupelo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Leo Stevens and one son, Tony Stevens.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wilford Roberts, Paul Bradley, Fred Davis, Gerald Montgomery, Bill Hall, Walter Hall, Jack McKinney, Buddy McKinney, Melton Riley, Buzzy Cullum, David Cullum, and Buddy Rushing.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
