Obituary for Billy Grant

Tupelo - Billy Grant, 96, died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at his residence after an extended illness. A Bolivar County native, he was born September 1, 1915 to Valley Alexander and Verna Lee Tweedle Grant. He worked as a courior for Bancorpsouth for over 20 years.. He enjoyed writing, building bird houses, playing computer games, but most of all, spending time with his family who loved him and depended upon his wisdom and love.

Graveside Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Jaggers of Tupelo, Billie Poole (Buddy) of Hamilton, Carolyn Bratton (Butch) of Tupelo, and Peggy Holley of Tupelo; 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-great-grandchildren; his caregiver loving and patient, Paulette Hoskins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 75 years Opal Grant who died Oct. 26, 2010; one daughter, Linda Russell who died in 2006; two grandchildren, Phillip Heath Holley and Richard Thomas Poole III.

His Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will continue from Noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
