Obituary for Beatrice L. Hood

Mooreville - Beatrice Montgomery Hood, 89, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Amory. She was born February 14, 1922 in Nettleton to Semore and Sarah Nancy Newell Montgomery. She was an active and dedicated member of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy where she served as a church pianist and sang. She enjoyed making blankets and quilts, working in her yard, planting her beautiful plants and her vegetable garden. She loved her children and grandchildren and loved to cook for them.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Wayne Thorn officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include her children, Harrison Hood of Fulton, Virgina Dickey (Jimmy) of Mooreville, Martha Foster of Mooreville, J.R. Hood of Columbus, Frances Williams (Mack) of Tupelo, Eva Dunn of Nashville, Tenn., and Phillip Hood of Mooreville; two daughters-in-law, Joyce Hood and Becky Hood, both of Mooreville; three sisters-in-law including her special friend, Lorene Montgomery of Mooreville, Odell Franks of Verona, and Radar Keith of Mooreville; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Hood (Doris) of Tupelo and Wayne Hood of Saltillo; special friends, Dr. and Mrs. Billy T. Collum of Fulton, Janice Nichols of Fulton, and Faye Collier, Christine Gentry, and Kay Brown; 22 grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Haskel Hood in 1972; two sons, James Hood and Jessie Hood; four sisters, Evelyn Owens, Effie Green, Leola Ratliff, and Edith Hall; one brother, Loren Montgomery; two granddaughters, Jessica Hood Marcy and Loretta Lynn Rushing; a great-grandson, Matt Willnow; and a sister-in-law, Olene Bell.

Pallbearers will be Carlton Green, Paul Green, Robbie Jean Harris, Eddie Harris, Ronnie Harris, Mike Mitchell and Matthew Dunn.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Church.
