Obituary for Jerry Robinson

Jerry  Robinson
Indian Hills Community - Jerry Wayne Robinson, 72, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a short illness. A native of Lee County, he was born August 24, 1939 to Frank and Ruth Vanderford Robinson. He retired as a truck driver after 33 years, finishing his last 15 years with Yellow Freight. Fishing and camping were some of his favorite hobbies. He was an avid carpenter and loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Beech Springs Freewill Baptist Church.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. A loving eulogy will be given by his son-in-law, Phillip Ponton. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Virginia Robinson of Wesley Cove in Indian Hills; two daughters, Carolyn Ponton (Phillip) of Beech Springs and Susan Robinson Bradley (Scott) of Saltillo; one sister, Dot Bowles (James) of Brewer; one brother, Ken Robinson (Marilyn) of Beech Springs; nine grandchildren, LeAnna Eckford, Melissa Ponton, Bud Cook, Tyler Cook, Justin Cook, Daniel Cook, Shelby Franks, Morgan Johnson and Bonnie Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Allie, Gracie, Addison and Meadow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Holt; one grandson, Jimmy Ponton; two brothers, Frank Robinson and Milton "Dude" Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Bud Cook, Justin Cook, Tyler Cook, Daniel Cook, Rusty Boren, Andy Boren and Zack Boren.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his former employers of Yellow Freight, Brad Coley and Pat Abel.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the funeral home.
