Nelva Lee  Johnson
Tupelo - Nelva Lee Johnson, 79, died Sunday, February 20, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Itawamba County, she was born June 13, 1931, to Gilbert and Marie Loden Carroll. She worked over 20 years as a secretary for Savings Oil, retiring in 1992. After retirement, she worked for the day care at East Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, and fishing. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and her little dog, Macy. She was the widow of Hollis B. Johnson who died June 5,1980 and a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Pierce and Terry Richardson officiating. Burial will be in East Fulton Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Swindol (Terry) of Tupelo, Janice Miller (Willis) of Evergreen, Amy Kingsley (Wesley) of Mooreville; her son, Randy Johnson of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Tommy Swindol (Jessica) of Michigan, Callie Spivey (Kyle) of Saltillo, Sarah Johnson of College Station, Tex., Steven Miller (Shae) of Dorsey, Holly Miller of Evergreen, Andrew Miller of Evergreen, Evan Kingsley of Tupelo, and Alex Kingsley of Mooreville; three great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Swindol and Emily Elizabeth Swindol, both of Michigan and Britton Joel Spivey of Saltillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her sister, Sybil Carroll; and her brother, John Henry Carroll.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tommy Swindol, Steven Miller, Evan Kingsley, Andrew Miller, Alex Kingsley, and Kyle Spivey and Britton Joel Spivey

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Grace Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church
