Obituary for Estelle Goff (Deaton)

Estelle  Goff (Deaton)
Tupelo - Estelle Deaton Goff, 96, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at her home in the Skyline Community after an illness of 10 months. She was born February 14, 1915 to John and Annie Deaton of Counce, Tenn. A faithful and dedicated member of the Skyline Church of Christ, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School there and at East Main Church of Christ for over 35 years. She enjoyed her immediate family, her church family, her flowers and cooking for the sick.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at East Main Church of Christ with Minister Malcomb George, L.D. Willis an Troy McNutt officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her children, Billy Goff (Mary Ruth), of Mooreville, Bobby Goff (Mary), Tommy Goff (Janice), all of Verona, Patsy Goff Nichols (Bobby) of Tupelo and Brenda Goff Shumpert (Bill), of Richmond Community; her grandchildren, Bill and Nathan Goff, Stephanie Goff Smith, Jeff Goff, Octavia Goff McVay, Janson and Tracy Goff, Matthew and Jonathan (Nic) Nichols, Staci Shumpert Bevill, Molly Shumpert Strawn, Susan Shumpert Martin and Amy Shumpert Sumrall; her 27 great-grandchildren; and her 14 great-great-grandchildren. She had a special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her sister, Edith Sanders of Cornith..

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hurley L. Goff; a two year old daughter, Betty-Dean; a sister, Opal Goff Pearson; and a brother, A.R. Deaton.

Pallbearers will be Her grandsons and adult great-grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters and adult great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
